Amsler Grid




Instructions: How to use the Amsler Grid

1. Cover one eye. (If you wear reading glasses, please have them on while doing this test).
   
2. Look at the center dot and keep your vision on the center at all times.
   
3. While looking directly at the center, note the following:
   
   • You should be able to see all four corners
   • All the lines should be straight
   • All the small squares should be the same size
4. Consult with your ophthalmologist if the following occurs:
   
   • any of the lines on the grid are wavy, broken, or distorted
   • any area on the grid are distorted, blurred, discolored or appear abnormal
5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 with the other eye
